We planned on eating at our site and at the cafe Saturday but the cafe was closed, due to someone working there having Covid like symptoms so we had to leave to get dinner. The pool was nice and the water slide was a big hit with the kids. Stalls didn’t have locks, no TP, nastiness all over the stall door, counters were a mess…and VERY HOT! The 1 shower in there, the liner was ripped and also had holes in it. The bathrooms or “comfort center” at the office building were anything but comforting. The bathroom stalls in the pool bathrooms were wet and smelly…but it’s at a pool so I guess it’s expected to be a little messy. Not sure about the arcade cause we didn’t go. The slide closes at 7 along with the Cafe, and the pool closes at 8. Everything there closes early on the weekend. After getting tents set, we had to run out to the store and we got back to eat at the cafe and it was closed. There was soda cans hanging on branches, old tarps on the ground, and cigarette butts everywhere. There was no fire ring…not unless you consider a pile of rocks jumbled up, a fire ring. So finally after waiting there for 20min the maintenance guy comes down and tears them all down and says that all of it was his and his fathers. So instead of making that 10min walk up that hill and back to the office, I called and she said she would have the maintenance come out to clean that up for us. When we got to our spot on Friday…there were tents set up there. This site also does not have water or electric hook/up because it’s a primitive site. It was shady, which was a few degrees cooler and quiet. Once down in the hole, you have a nice little spot in between the base of two small mountains that has a creek running through. The dirt HILL/old creek bed was pure hell going up and down, you can’t even take golf carts down that hill…there’s specifically a sign that says so. We walk down past the water slide, past the pool, and followed a trail going down into the woods. So then after check in, we head to our spot, which by the way we had to walk to because there was no parking anywhere near our site, so we left our car at office parking. So we go and check in and the young lady I checked in with didn’t have the greatest of attitudes but maybe she just wasn’t having a good day. It was last minute when we called to make a reservation but she said they had group tent G3 available since we will be having more than 2 tents, which was fine with me. This was our families first time taking a camping trip with our 4 kids. We enjoyed some waterfall hikes and wineries. This campground is close to so many things to do in the area. We did not have young children with us and really enjoyed the top loop where the views were amazing. If you want to be close to the action try to book near the bottom of the property. The campground had lots of activities and amenities especially for children. They are refurbing the facilities including the water slide. We asked them about the future plans for the property, and their answers were very exciting! They will no longer take annual leases. When we checked in and requested to change sites, they immediately took care of us. Those are the only negatives we experienced. Sites and roads are not paved and dusty, and some of the facilities look dated. We are so glad we did! The reason for an imperfect score is that the property needs some updates. We were hesitant to book based on some past negative reviews but decided to take a chance upon hearing that Spacious Skies had bought the property. We had a great weekend at SSC at Hidden Creek.
